Triathlons with a swim, bike, and run segment are increasingly popular among ordinary citizens who may or may not have a background in any of those disciplines To make a satisfying experience, these races should be somewhat challenging, and they should be fun But they do require some level of fitness and skill in all three disciplines, not just one Out of all three, the swim is commonly experienced as the most stressful and intimidating part of the race by many new and experienced triathletes alike Swimming in open water, often in a wetsuit, surrounded by hundreds of other splashing and thrashing swimmers is nothing like swimming laps in lane at the local pool The open water swim presents challenges in the body and the mind, with the wild aquatic environment, and with the race atmosphere itself This book, written by Mediterra International Head Coach, Total Immersion Master Coach, and open water swimming specialist Mat Hudson, walks you through all of those potentially stressful features and offers guidance on how to prepare for each one in training, to make your next triathlon swim safer, stronger, and much enjoyable....

A Better Triathlon Swim: Everything you need to consider in training to make your next triathlon swim safer, stronger, and much more enjoyable. (English Edition) Reviews
At long last a book the does not pretend we are all capable of reaching GREAT times and Olympic Gold. I wanted a book to help me improve my Triathlon swim time. I know WHAT sets I need to train, and HOW many miles I need to swim. But look, I don't enjoy swimming, nor do I enjoy the hours in the pool as my swim coach is pretty strict (joke, he is a nice guy). But training in the pool and swimming in open water are two different events. The book described to me how I can master this part of the event with a lot less stress. The breathing techniques, and calm collected manner of how to overcome the various issues such as navigation, or the start gives me confidence for the next TRI.
