Brave and Loyal: An Illustrated Celebration of Livestock Guardian Dogs Reviews
Love this informative book. We've had several LGD's for more than a decade and a half, but in a small farm setting. Even though I thought I understood something about life with livestock guardian dogs in situations with larger herds and larger, more dangerous predators, this book was an eye-opener. It offers insights into life not only on the range in our western states, but in so many other areas of the world where dogs like mine originated and continue to work much like they have for centuries. This is an easy and engaging read and well worth the price. Good for anyone interested in livestock guardian dogs, to increase their knowledge of dogs, for anyone who travels in areas where they may encounter grazing livestock and these dogs (how to handle the situation for the safety of all), or for anyone interested in armchair travel to places off the beaten path.
I really enjoyed reading this and learning about guardian dogs in the US and around the world. They are really amazing dogs and how they relate to their sheep and humans was so interesting to me. If you enjoy reading about dogs with jobs, this book is for you.
Excellent book with wonderful pictures showing the variety and diversity in LGD'S. with the recent popularity of LGD'S as a non lethal means of predator control this book gives the reader an idea of the temperament and intelligence of these dogs and how they differ from "pets." There utility and ability is explained well and at a level from novice to professional can understand. Well done.
Informative. With detail that only direct experience can express.
Great resource for anyone interested in livestock guardian dogs.
Great book with beautiful pictures and very informative. It will be so helpful to me and my first LGD.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book - very informative.
